The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As an Automation Engineer (*) SPS for the Corporate Research Laboratory in Neuss, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
Developing automation solutions for our products and processes of tomorrow
Being responsible for the development and implementation of solution strategies in modern engineering environments for control, visualization and digitization solutions
Identifying your own competence gaps and closing them in a targeted manner
International teamwork with cross-functional process and product developers
Cooperating with external development partners such as suppliers and universities

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in the field of electrical engineering, computer science or technician training with focus on automation technology
Relevant professional experience in automation technology or PhD
Profound knowledge of PLC programming (preferably Beckhoff TwinCat XAE, additionally Siemens TIA Portal, Rockwell Allen-Bradley)
Implementation experience in the areas of PLC communication, interfaces and safety-related programming
Knowledge of network infrastructure, e. g. data interfacing SQL & Time Series databases in the IT/OT environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include
Independent structuring/organizing of task packages and projects, solution-oriented mind-set
Result-oriented and proactive working method, ability to work in a team, good communication skills
Good English skills
