Director (m/f/d) Global Manufacturing Technologies

As a core member of the Supply Chain Management & Operations team, the Director Global Manufacturing Technologies will be responsible for definition and governance of the Landis+Gyr technical manufacturing processes both internally at our sites as well as externally at the Contract Manufacturers.
The proven leader will review the current organization of engineers to identify Subject Matter Experts (SME) for the production steps (not exclusively) assembly, CCSP (calibration, customization, sealing, packing) and testing. All production processes for all Landis+Gyr products are to be defined considering best practice sharing across the global footprint. Part of that definition is the technical process itself, the options for equipment suppliers and the capacity (maximum, current, future). All identified SME should be integrated into the Global Manufacturing Technologies organization where it makes sense from the business side.
The leader will transform our manufacturing plants to the to be defined Landis+Gyr operations environment and standards. In addition, this role will provide comprehensive support to plant operations, New Product Introduction (NPI) and Contract Manufacturer Management (CM).
This role will also lead the development and/or improvement of the technical manufacturing processes. It will define equipment, tooling, and systems required for automated manufacturing and decide on their applicability based on a holistic cost improvement analysis. The role will be also responsible to identify CAPEX requirements based on planned NPI and transfers.
This position reports to the VP of Global Operational Excellence . The Director Global Manufacturing Technologies leads a team of regional SME for the respective products and processes.
Core area of responsibility
Define required skill and technology matrix for the Landis+Gyr portfolio and internal and external production sites
Identify and integrate SME in our existing engineering workforce as well as identify GAPs to be closed
Evaluate current situation of technical production processes and define technical standards (process, automation, capacity, cycle times) for each process category
Identify standardization opportunities considering local circumstances and business situation
Define and roll-out the defined standards
Be responsible for CAPEX and tool management
Provide project management leadership for automation projects together with local engineers / Technical Engineering Functions (TEF) including creating schedules and executing plans
Maintain strong operational relationships with plant leadership to ensure alignment and cohesive implementation of Manufacturing Technologies standards
Create and lead a culture that continually looks for operational improvements, optimizes work processes to gain efficiency, sets goals and achieves cost cutting measures, and regularly conduct root cause analysis and process improvement for key quality and systemic operational issues
Drive change and results by championing operational excellence and performance initiatives to ensure alignment and successful execution to key business goals and objectives
Challenge the status quo to minimize risk and maximize performance
Lead, motivate, and develop a team of geographically dispersed employees on an ongoing basis, and provide direct feedback, counsel, and coaching to drive practices and processes and the overall company performance

Demonstrable expert for technical manufacturing processes
Experience managing operations of a business with high complexity in a global matrix, multi-site organization
Demonstrable experience in multi-site operations and plant transformation to support efficiency and effectiveness improvements
Experience in advanced manufacturing engineering process definition and roll-outs
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects
Track record of driving operational excellence and implementing significant improvements resulting in cost reductions

Educational / professional qualification

Fluent business English necessary; any second language would be an advantage
Position requires up to 25 % of travel to our manufacturing sites to meet with project teams, external partners and customers.
