The Chair of Development Economics (Professor Michael Grimm) and the DFG Research Training Group 2720 âDigital Platform Ecosystemsâ (DPE) at the University of Passau invite applications for the position of a
in the area of opportunities and risks in the context of platforms in developing countries.
The position offers the opportunity to engage in field experiments and other types of field research in Sub-Saharan Africa and Indonesia to explore the potential of Digital Platform Ecosystems for firms, farms and households in the areas of business, agriculture, health and education.
This is a fully funded position (75% FTE) based on a fixed-term contract with a three-year term with the option of renewal which can be started at the earliest convenience. Remuneration is in accordance with pay grade E13 of the German public-sector collective agreement, TV-L; the salary step depends on your qualifications and experience.
What we seek
You are a highly motivated postgraduate with an excellent masterâs degree in economics or a related field of study.
Very good analytical and econometric skills, the ability to handle and manage large and complex micro data sets in STATA and most importantly a keen interest in development economics.
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team, open-mindedness, and the motivation to work on a research project independently and diligently.
Excellent spoken and written English language skills. Knowledge of German is not a requirement.
