Scientist II (all genders) – Sample Management / Analytical Development & Operations

Act as subject matter expert in our sample management group for Biologics Analytical R&D (BARD) Ludwigshafen, who organizes global shipments for analytical samples / reference materials between our partner functions in the global Biologics CMC Development organization. Furthermore, you will maintain and improve sample management processes within the team and exchange with internal/external stakeholders to align on timelines, resources and deliverables for our CMC development programs.
Your Responsibilities:
Single-point of contact of all sample management activities, leading as subject matter expert e. g., shipment coordination, sample receipt and distribution, reference standard fillings and maintaining an analytical sample inventory
Centrally organize shipments of analytical samples and materials for testing (e. g to other AbbVie sites and CROs), including creation of documents required for customs clearance, import permits and initiation of classification & valuation processes
Responsible for coordination of sample flow for analytical tasks (e.g. release and stability testing) according to standard operating procedures and in compliance with GxP regulations and good documentation practices
Ensure sample receipt at the Ludwigshafen site is attended during working days in person and occasionally outside working hours in the event of unscheduled deliveries
Represent the sample management group in local / global meetings to continuously improve our processes to ensure deliverables are executed in a timely manner and in alignment with our partner functions as well as global trade compliance
Negotiate needs of the sample management group with internal / external stakeholders involved global shipment processes which includes management of external shipment budget and resource planning
Responsible for the reference standard administration concept and automated reference standard fillings for BARD Ludwigshafen and creating a sample inventory concept
Supports scientific source document creation e.g., temperature excursion assessments for shipments or providing / verifying statistical calculations for submission documents
Qualification:
Your AbbVie Talent:
BS or equivalent education with typically 7 or more years of experience or MS or equivalent education with typically 5 or more years of experience in chemistry, biology, biotechnology pharmacology or a related field
Knowledge in global sample logistics and shipping processes is desired but not mandatory, knowledge of OZ compliance wizard software is beneficial
Experience in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and applied documentation principals and profound understanding of standard operating procedures is beneficial
Experience in statistical softwares (e.g. JMP, SAS or others) is considered a plus
As a highly motivated, self-driven and results-oriented person with excellent communication and presentation skills are you experienced in a cross-functional, global environment and used to work with teams in a matrix
Demonstrated ability to work independently with the ability to multitask and work within timelines
Demonstrated scientific writing skills and strong verbal communication skills in English / German
