We are currently looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Team Lead for our Hydrogen R&D team. In this position, you will have the opportunity to start in Germany and familiarize yourself with our products and processes before relocating to China after approximately 12 months.
Your main responsibilities will include supervising testing and characterization of materials for application in PEM fuel cells (PEM FC) and water electrolyzers (PEM EL). You will also be involved in the development and optimization of inks and electrodes for PEM EL & FC.
In addition, you will be responsible for planning, developing, and validating suitable ink and coating technologies and electrode test methods and respective equipment for PEM EL & FC.
In your role, you will also be responsible for planning, acquiring, and processing both internal and external projects.
As an expert for electrode testing within HPM China, you will serve as a technical lead for employees within the projects. Strong cooperation with global teams in Germany and the US will also be required.
Furthermore, you will have the opportunity to work closely with production and customers to address application-oriented issues and optimize processes.
To be successful in this role, candidates should have a background in engineering or a related field, preferably with a focus on materials science or chemistry. Experience in fuel cell or electrolyzer research and development is highly desirable.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work independently and in a team. Excellent communication and presentation skills are also important to effectively collaborate with global teams.

Successfully passed studies in natural science or engineering and ideally a PhD
Experience in R&D preferentially in hydrogen electrochemistry
Profound knowledge in the field of water electrolysis and fuel cells as well as their components (CCM, MEA, BPP, FF), including manufacturing and characterization
Advanced knowledge in working with single-cell test set-ups and project and portfolio management
Basic know-how in precious metal chemistry and heterogeneous catalysis
Well networked in the field of electrochemistry as well as the hydrogen community
Chinese speaking (fluent or native) and advanced skills in English and MS Office
Working independently and proactively as well as with dedication
Willingness to relocate to China (Shanghai)
